What counts as an emergency

The calls we treat as urgent.

Anything that puts your household at health risk, or is actively damaging the home, gets dispatched as fast as the on-call rotation allows. We don’t make you justify the urgency on a phone tree.

  • No heat overnight, especially with infants or older adults
  • No air conditioning during a Toronto heat warning
  • Hot water tank leaking onto a finished basement
  • Gas smell — call your utility first, then us
  • Furnace shutting down on safety repeatedly
  • Burst pipe or major water event tied to HVAC
How after-hours dispatch works

One form, real reply, on-call rotation.

Submit the request form with urgency set to Emergency. The on-call member sees it, replies with a window, and rolls. We don’t farm the call out to a third-party answering service.

Submit an emergency request
  • Submit the form, set urgency to Emergency
  • On-call dispatcher confirms by email
  • Technician calls or messages with ETA
  • Diagnose, stabilize, and (often) fix on the same visit
  • Written record of what was done and what to watch
  • Follow-up scheduled if a part needs to be ordered

While you wait

A few things to try before we arrive.

None of these replace a real diagnosis, but they sometimes recover the system long enough to keep the house comfortable until we get there.

NO HEAT

Check the basics first.

Thermostat batteries, breaker for the furnace, furnace switch, filter that’s gone past dirty. Resetting at the breaker once is fair; repeated resets are not.

NO COOLING

Outdoor unit and indoor coil.

If the indoor coil is iced up, switch the system off and let it thaw — running it iced damages the compressor.

TANK LEAK

Shut off cold supply + power.

Close the cold-water shut-off above the tank, kill power (electric) or set the gas valve to OFF (gas), then call us — see the tank replacement page for the swap process.

GAS SMELL

Leave first, call utility first.

Anything resembling a gas smell — leave the house and call the gas utility’s emergency line before us. We can come after the utility has cleared the situation.

Toronto residential

Need someone tonight? Submit an urgent request.
