When AC installation comes up

Common reasons Toronto homes call us in.

Some homes don’t have AC at all and the upstairs has become unliveable in July. Some have an aging central system that’s on the wrong side of a refrigerant phase-out. Some have an addition or finished attic that the existing ducts don’t reach.

  • First-time central AC in a previously heat-only home
  • Replacement of an aging or R-22 system
  • Ductless mini-split for a home with no ductwork
  • Multi-zone ductless for an attic, addition, or basement suite
  • Pairing AC with a furnace replacement
  • Switching to a heat pump for cooling + shoulder-season heat
What an install includes

Sizing, line-set, electrical, commissioning.

A new AC isn’t just an outdoor box. We size against the home, route line-sets cleanly, get a proper electrical disconnect installed, and commission the system with measured airflow and refrigerant readings before we sign it off.

Plan an AC install
  • Heat-load review against the actual house
  • Outdoor unit pad / wall mount and disconnect
  • Line-set run with proper insulation and supports
  • Indoor coil or air-handler / ductless head
  • Vacuum, charge, and refrigerant verification
  • Thermostat handoff and homeowner walk-through

Choosing a system

Central, ductless, or heat pump?

There’s no single right answer. The ducts you have, the rooms that get hot, your existing heating system, and how long you plan to be in the house all shift the recommendation.

CENTRAL AC

Existing ducts, whole-home cooling.

Best when ductwork is sound and you want one consistent setpoint everywhere. Pairs naturally with a forced-air furnace.

DUCTLESS

No ducts, or rooms ducts don’t reach.

Single-zone for one trouble room, or a multi-zone for a whole upper floor or addition.

HEAT PUMP

Cooling + shoulder-season heat from one unit.

If you’re already replacing, a cold-climate heat pump can cover both jobs and reduce your gas use.

REPAIR FIRST?

Sometimes a fix is the right answer.

If the system is younger and the issue is bounded, an AC repair may be the better call.
